A Little More About The
Quarries
The Quarries are former quarrying and logging lands that were
reclaimed in an effort to preserve the lush forests in this area. The
neighborhood is in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, just footsteps
away from outdoor recreational opportunities and perfect nighttime skies for
star-gazing.
Community members are committed to preserving the natural beauty of this
area. Each homesite has an individual character, yet it is connected to a
village-like sense of being part of a larger "green" whole.
The original development was founded on these organizing principles of environmental
design:

-Utilization of indigenous technologies, materials, and labor skills
-Seemless site integration with direct response to the microclimate
-Direct designer, builder, and inhabitant participation, with an emphasis on
self-regenerating "living" systems
